Gas lap , also known as air cans , is a product used to clean or clean electronic equipment and other sensitive devices that can not be cleaned by water.

These products most often are cans that, when the trigger is pressed, blow up the compressed gas stream through the nozzle. Regardless of the name "air cans", the cans actually contain gas that can be solidified into liquids. Liquid air is impractical, because it can not be stored in metal spray cans due to extreme pressures and temperature requirements. Common duster gases are 1,1-difluoroethane, 1,1,1-trifluoroethane, or 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane. Hydrocarbons, such as butane, are often used in the past, but their combustible properties force manufacturers to use fluorocarbons.

When inhaled, dust gas smoke can produce psychoactive effects and can be harmful to health.

Usage

Canned air can be used to remove dust from surfaces such as keyboards, as well as sensitive electronics where moisture is not desired. When using tin air, it is advisable not to hold the tin upside down, as this may cause spraying of liquid to the surface. The liquid when released from the can, boiling at a very low temperature, quickly cools the surface it touches. This can cause mild to moderate frostbite when in contact with the skin, especially if the can is held upside down. Also, it can get very cold during extended use; holding the can itself can cause cold burns.

Dust sprays are often used as frozen sprays. Many gas dusters contain HFC-134a (tetrafluoroethane), which is widely used as propellant and refrigerant. HFC-134a sold for that purpose is often sold at a higher price, which has led to the practice of using gas dusters as a cheaper source of HFC for that purpose. The adapter has been created for that purpose, although in most cases, the use of the adapter will void the warranty on the equipment used. One example of this practice is the case of airsoft gas guns, which use HFC-134a as a compressed gas. Some vendors sell "lap adapters" for use with airsoft guns, although they need to add lubricants when using gas dust to power the air gun.

Health and safety

Since gas dust is one of many inhalants that can be easily misused, many manufacturers add a bitter agent to prevent people from inhaling the product. Because of the generic name "air cans", it mistakenly believes that it can contain only normal air or contain less harmful substances such as nitrous oxide. However, the actual gases used are more dense than air, such as difluoroethane. When inhaled, the gas replaces the oxygen in the lungs and removes the carbon dioxide from the blood causing the user to suffer from hypoxia that causes euphoric feelings of misery. This type of inhalation inhalation can cause a large number of negative effects including brain and nerve damage, paralysis, serious injury, or death.

Because gas dust is often contained in pressure vessels, they are considered explosive.

Environmental impact

Global warming: Difluoroethane (HFC-152a), trifluoroethane (HFC-143a), and non-flammable tetrafluoroethane (HFC-134a) are potent greenhouse gases. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the global warming potential (GWP) of HFC-152a, HFC-143a, and HFC-134a are 124, 4470, and 1430 respectively. GWP refers to global warming effects compared to CO < sub> 2 for the mass unit. 1 kg HFC-152a is equivalent to 124 kg CO 2

Depletion of the ozone layer: Gas dust sold in many countries is safe because they use zero ozone depletion potential; tetrafluoroethane, for example, has an insignificant ODP. This is a separate issue of global warming concerns.

Alternative

True "air dust" using ordinary air is also available in the market. It usually has a much shorter running time than a chemical washcloth, but is readily refilled. Both hand pumps and electric compressor models have been marketed. The maximum pressure for aerosol cans is usually 10 bar (145 psi) at 20 C (68 F). Therefore, a fully pressurized air well will remove about 10 times the volume of the can. Recently an electronic version that uses only air has become a viable alternative favored by many large companies due to the fact that they do not contain harmful chemicals, are safe for the environment, do not freeze and they can not be misused by addicts who want to get high. The main plug-in alternatives are made by DataVac and Airrow and the ultimate wireless alternative is made by Canless Air System.
