Parody

  • In 1969, The Wacky Packages series included artificial ads, composed by Art Spiegelman and painted by Tom Sutton, depicting an American Revolutionary soldier waving a flag and a pair of policemen holding policemen chasing a bunch of hippies carrying picket marks reading "For Freedom!" and "Love! Not War!", with a prominent slogan, "Keep America Clean with Commie Cleanser" and a can, describing Uncle Sam's caricature, and written, "Extra Strong Commie Cleanser" and "Gets Rid of Reds, Pinkos, Hippies , Yippies & Flippies ". Artificial ads also appear that describe the can itself.
  • The children's song about Comet was sung for the song Colonel Bogey March. It's a "Comet" rhyme with "vomit." The full lyrics are:
Comet, it makes your tooth turn green
Comet, it feels like gasoline
Comet, it makes you vomit,
So get the comet, and vomit it today!
  • The song "Rip Her to Shreds" by American rock band/new wave band Blondie mentions Comet:
She had the nerve to tell me that she was not there
But his expression is too quiet
Yes, he looks like he was washing with Comet
Always looking for a scene
